The kindergartners are enjoying learning our class musical, “How Does Your Garden Grow?”. Thank you for helping your child learn his/her part. More info will be sent home when we secure a date for our show.

This week we will travel to Stuffington Bear Factory on our third field trip. Please drop your child off by the kindergarten gate at 8:15 on Thursday, March 5th. We will return at 12:30. Please meet your child in front of the school by the flagpole. Each student will need a sack lunch and drink. Thank you to Mrs. Pace, Mrs. Liano, Mrs. Ganem and Mrs. Haltom for volunteering to chaperone our trip.

This month we will focus on spring, insects, and St. Patrick’s Day of course. (I’m not called Flanagan for nuttin’!) We will continue to build on our reading skills and will practice addition. We will also introduce telling time to the hour. Please practice using the clock with your child at home.

Flanagan Forum

Thank you so much for all of the school supplies that you wonderful kindergarten families sent in last week. We are once again ready to work, craft, and create! Thank you also for the sweet Valentine gifts. I am continually amazed and humbled by the generous and thoughtful things you do for me. Love and thanks to you all!
This week we will continue our study of presidents and American Symbols. We will practice sorting money by size, color, and value, and will play ‘store’ in the housekeeping center to strengthen our money skills.

We are already preparing for our field trip to Stuffington Bear Factory on March 5th. The cost of the field trip is $12 per student. (Please see attached note.) If you have already paid for all field trips through tax credit donation please disregard this notice.

The Flanagan Forum will now be posted weekly on our class blog at growinginkindergarden.blogspot.com. If this online version works well I may discontinue the hard copy (paper) sent home each Monday to save trees. Just trying to do my part!

This Thursday is our field trip to the Childsplay performance of “Busy Town” in Tempe. Our class will meet in our classroom at 8:15 on this day. Please send a sack lunch and drink with your child. We will return around 12:30pm. Please meet your child in front of the school (by the flagpole) at this time.
This week the kindergartners will finish their fabric unit by sewing quilt squares. This has been a fun and educational science unit and I look forward to our field trip to Stuffington Bear Factory in March as a culmination of fabric.
We will have visits from several parents this week who will speak about their job in the community. Let me know if you would like to set up a time to visit with our class about your career.
Our Valentine’s Day party will be held on Friday, February 13th at 1:30pm. All are welcome to join us. If your child would like to pass out Valentine cards we ask that each child sign his/her name on the cards but leave the envelopes blank. This makes it much easier to pass out the cards in the Valentine holders. There are 23 children in our class.
Happy Groundhog Day! Ask your child if Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow.

Planting Our Kinder-Garden

Every year the all the kindergartners get to plant a garden out on the Kinder playground.
They bring flowers, veggies, seeds, soil, watering cans and hand tools. It's so fun to see them learning about gardening! It's a little crowded and hectic but the kids sure had a great time.

I would love any pictures you might have from this fun day!
I was only in one area so I didn't get pictures of all the kids. Sorry!
I will post them if you e-mail them to me.
